Lately shows like Reaper and the movie "Angels and Demons" have led me to believe the religion can attribute to the arts. After all, Hollywood hasn't been all to original lately, the least they could do is turn an old legend or two into a great film. What do you think, is a possible future for religion?

Religion has always benefited art and architecture. Some of the greatest art, music and construction was done for God/gods/goddesses. Look at all the ancient works from Pyramids to the Gothic cathedrals. Look at Leonardo, and Michelangelo. I would put them far ahead of the Reaper and Angles and Demons

Well, yeah. But it's a little cheap. The thing about using a built in emotional system as your platform for artistic expression is that you run the risk of manipulating your audience. If what you want to do is take a ready made story, and sort of hash it out a bit in a new exciting way, you'll probably be fine, but for every awesome film like "The Excorsist", you have a dozen plonkers like "The Passion Of The Christ" which, far more than being offensive to a small degree, committed the ultimate film sin. It was dull as dog$#1t for three hours.
No shortage of films based on religious ideas, I don;t believe the future of faith rests in Hollywood though, or at least i hope not. If you want armies of hell-spawned demons being battled by righteous religious figures, The cinema is your place, but if you are looking for real religion. Best go to Church (Mosque, Synagogue, Quiet spot in the woods, etc)

Well, religion has always been a big backround in the arts.
Lots of well known paintings are based off of religion (the last supper)
Just as movies are today.
Its basically cuz there are so many stories, and it is something that everyone has an opinion on.
I think that religion comes and goes in cycles, like this generation it may not be popular, but maybe the next generation (mine) will be heavily influenced by religion because of all the attention that religion is getting within pop culture.
